Sony Ships World’s Fastest 18X DVD±R Writer

Sony released DVR writer named AWG170A (they need to fire their naming department), touted as world’s fastest, with a blazing 18x speed for burning single layer disks. It would write your 16x discs too at the higher speed.

The drive will write DVD-RAM discs as 12x. DVD±R DL and DVD+RW discs are written at up to 8x, DVD-RW at 6x max. CD-R/RW discs are burned at 48x.

AWG170A has a compact, fanless self-cooling design, along with mechanisms to compensate for unbalanced discs. Link
