Windows 7 Tips: How to Find and Change Equalizer Settings in Windows Media Player 12

I hope you know by now that Windows 7 hosts Windows Media Player 12 by default. While accessing it, I had a very basic problem. I couldn’t find the equalizer to change the audio settings. It was really annoying till I found out the alternate way. I am not sure if its the easiest way to do so, but if you are feeling the same pain then here is the lotion.

  • Hoping that you are in the default library view.
  • Press Alt to get the menu (or you already have that if you have activated Menu Bar at the top), and navigate to View > Skin Chooser.
  • Select Revert skin from the skins list (left side) and press the Apply Button option.
  • There you have the Graphic Equalizer at the down right column.

By the way, where is th SRS- WOW effect in Windows 7? Any idea?

1) right click in the middle of the player while playing a song (normal skin)

2) put mouse on “enhancements”

3) choose SRS WOW effects

can you tell me what SRS WOW is and what it does?

Change to the ‘now playing’ window (either by pressing [ctrl] + [3] or via the small shortcut in top right of the library window.

Once on the now playing window right click where the visualisation is, then choose enhancements, there is a list of available functions for you to play with there, similar list to WMP 11 really, with the added dolby controls, and colour chooser removed. Hope this helps (even if you asked in february)

Bottom right corner; Switch to Now Playing.
Right-click on Title bar; Select Enhancements.
Select SRS/WOW effects, etc…
