Zune HD adds Twitter app with Glitches

When we reviewed Zune HD, we had weighed it against Apple’s iPod Touch. Evidently, it was the lack of good apps that made Zune HD an outmoded gadget. Given the few games and miscellaneous goodies, Microsoft’s personal multimedia player had nothing comparable to the iPod or iPhone apps. No surprises, it didn’t look much social without a Twitter client.

However, today Zune HD got the first Twitter app. The Twitter app is already available on the Marketplace(Windows app store).

It’s a pretty easy-to-use Twitter client. As reported by Engadget, it is distressingly laggy. Scrolling through and refreshing the tweets leads to random crashes.  Even the touch functionality isn’t working smoothly. Zune might also has dropped its Wi Fi connection several times. There are polished apps running on the Zune, we hope the glitches are cleaned up soon.

The app censors sleazy words out of the tweet in your timeline. All the abusive words are automatically replaced with asterisks. This feature imitates Apple’s app store playbook, but doesn’t seem comfortable as it applies live censoring on content. Zune has a web browser that is capable of displaying all sorts of online obscenity. We can wait for the updates, until the problems are fixed.
