Ahead of the Bell: Texas Instruments to report Mon

NEW YORK — After the market closes Monday, Texas Instruments Inc. is set to report its results for a quarter that proved kind to some other chip makers.

Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. have already reported strong results for the quarter that ended in June, saying computer purchases are recovering.

TI isn’t as deeply affected by PC sales trends — its chips go into a broader array of devices, from phones to cars. But it raised its forecast for the quarter in June, saying demand is reviving, particularly in the industrial sector.

The Dallas-based company expects to report earning 60 cents to 64 cents per share for the second quarter on revenue of $3.45 billion to $3.59 billion.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect TI to earn 62 cents per share on $3.5 billion in revenue.
