Configure Hotmail for POP3

Hotmail, unlike others, never had a POP3 access in the first place. Well, you can’t blame Microsoft for leaving behind some of the most important features behind while concetrating on the ones which we DO NOT WANT. But what is POP3 if you ask, It is a protocol that allows almost any e-mail software program that you’ve installed on your mobile phone or PC to get messages from your e-mail inbox on the web and deliver them in the designated program. In plain english, you can access that hotmail account from anywhere, even GMail! So, enough of surprises now. How do we configure the POP3 for hotmail?

When you are going to configure your mobile/ PC e-mail program with POP3 for hotmail, just fill the form as below.

When you set up Hotmail in the e-mail program on your PC or mobile device, you may be asked for the following information:

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

And you are done! Feel free to contact us if you have any problem.

Thanx for providing such useful information. But the SMTP port is only 25. not 587. Port 587 does not work for Livemail.

There is no download. These are program settings for use inside of an external e-mail program (i.e. outlook).

I’ve tested it out and it seems to function as expected.
