Ebaums Responsible for Bieber Attacks YouTube Hack

San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) YouTube was hacked recently and all Justin Bieber video viewers were redirected to other videos like the infamous One Man One Jar video. For some of the viewers, some messages were triggered. According to some reports, Ebaums is responsible for Bieber attacks. The Ebaumsworld site provides funny videos, pictures, flash games, jokes, etc. Some reports suggest that discussions on the notorious 4chan bulletin board site points to the members of the community to be blamed for the YouTube Hack.

Malformed HTML code was used to get past the YouTube filters in the comments section of the page, as the reports say. Ebaums has reportedly found HTML injection vulnerability in the comments section of YouTube. Some of the comments in the popular video site are found to begin with a script tag. YouTube has considered the vulnerability and as per the latest reports, they have disabled all comments that were using such vulnerability. A statement was released by Google saying,

We took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability on youtube.com that was discovered several hours ago. Comments were temporarily hidden by default within an hour, and we released a complete fix for the issue in about two hours. We’re continuing to study the vulnerability to help prevent similar issues in the future.

YouTube, LLC was bought by Google Inc. in November 2006 in exchange of $1.65 billion. The videos in YouTube are mainly uploaded by registered users. The unregistered users can only watch the videos. The optional registration allows registered users to upload, comment and rate the videos.
