Eclipse 3.1 + Tomcat 5.5 Integration Solution

By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News Network

I am trying to develop (java) web applications (running on Tomcat 5.5) with Eclipse 3.1.

The obvious choice - Sysdeo Tomcat plugin doesn’t work even with 3.1beta version.

After extracting the zip file and starting Eclipse, as instructed, further instructions cannot be followed as Tomcat doesn’t show up anywhere.

Anyone got it working on Eclipse 3.1? Any other solutions?

Thanks.

1.need to select the correct compatible verstion of sysdeo tomcat plugin.unzip it and put plugins in to the eclipse plugin folder and features in features.
2.while doing this operation close u r eclipse.
3.after putting the tomcat plugin you should be able to view the icons at the top tool bar.
4. if no- then there is a problem in u r eclipse while downloading or extraction.
5.if yes then go to cmd -go to clipse installation dir(ex:e:\eclipse)and run the command
eclipse -clean
then it will take the new plugins and eclipse will start by it self from cmd.
Then u can start configuring tomcat in eclipse.
Try this—– Good Luck –it worked for me.

hello M. Yuan
I’m working with lomboz 3.1 and I’d like to build a web application using JBoss 3.2.5 Application Server.
when I try to create a Lomboz J2EE project eclipse shows me the following error message :
enable to reach the file “JBoss-boot.jar”
enable to reach the file “javax.servlet.jar”
I’d like to know if I’m using the wrong version or it’s a problem of configuration
please can you help me to find out the problem origine
thank you a lot

Hi, I’m using the sysdeo plugin (3.1 beta) with eclipse 3.1 and I have a problem under linux and XP. I have no content assist in the display view with the plugin installed. If I remove the plugin, content assist in display works again. Does anyone know a patch or workaround for this?

Thanks,
Federico
