Hacking My Cellphone Adapter

My cellphone adapter would accassionally refuse to recharge. I tried nudging and pushing, checking if something is loose. Some days it would suddenly start working. Today wasn’t one of those days. The adapter remained as dead as dodo. And yet it was definitely heating up. I needed my mobile urgently and there wasn’t much time to buy a new one. So I had to hack it.

I suspected the problem to be in the segment which connects with the cellphone and not in the adapter itself. I suspected loose connection. Opening the small black enclosure wasn’t hard. I just had to press the pins and suddenly I found myself staring at the wires, which the base remained attached to the cell phone.

There were two wires which lovingly entwined each other on their business ends. In short the wires were touching each other in embrace. That wasn’t a good sign. Few simple twist and it was looking good. A little blacktape ensured they wouldn’t embrace each other in future.

Joining the case back wasn’t a problem. After putting the pieces in place you just have to press the sides to ensure they are locked together. I plugged in my phone and voila! It started charging again.

So why did I need to fix the cellphone adapter in a hurry?
Tomorrow we (Taragana employees) are going on a picnic, sponsored by Taragana obviously.
