Twitter Overloaded… Again and Again

Twitter seems to be having serious scalability issues, a malaise which plagued the otherwise popular service since its early days.

Could this be related to its architectural decision of adopting Ruby-on-Rails? There was a rumor not so long ago that twitter was abandoning Ruby on Rails. While it was denied by Evan Williams, he also mentioned that lot of Twitter code was not in Ruby on Rails at this time. Maybe they are progressively moving away from it.

Update: Twitter down again and back up again. Looks like it is going on its limit.

Sure, why not?

Question is, would you switch to a competing service if they had better reliability?
