"We have talked a lot about India advantage. That makes me extremely worried. Unveiling the new cyberdefense strategy, Obama had said: "The cybersecurity effort will not - I repeat, will not - include monitoring private sector networks or Internet traffic." But senior Pentagon and military officials say that Obama's assurances may be difficult to guarantee in practice, particularly in trying to monitor the thousands of daily attacks on security systems in the United States, that have set off a race to develop better cyberweapons, New York Times reports.
Company alleges Chinese software has stolen code
SAN FRANCISCO — A California company claims that the Internet-filtering software China has mandated for all new personal computers sold there contains stolen programming code. Solid Oak Software of Santa Barbara said Friday that parts of its filtering software, which is designed for parents, are being used in the "Green Dam-Youth Escort" filtering software that must be packaged with all computers sold in China from July 1.
