NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It looks like Fiat India is trying to ensure that its second tryst with the Indian car market proves to be a good one. It entered the Indian car scene several years ago and two of its models, Uno and Palio became sleeper hits with the buyers. However, the company got embroiled into maintenance and after sales service related issues which dented its growth in India to a large extent. However, after tying up with Tata Motors for reviving its sagging fortunes, Fiat India is witnessing success. Its Linea and Grande Punto have garnered good reviews and the Linea has become a favorite with the buyers looking for mid range sedans. It offers great features at a reasonable price.
The company is trying to bank on the success of Linea in India. That explains why Fiat India is planning to release a revamped and more feature packed model of Linea by the end of this year in India. If the industry reports are to be believed then the upcoming models- the Punto Sports and the Linea 1.4 TJet may get a release date by August 2010. However, the Punto sports will be costlier than the existing Punto model. Now the service of Fiat has improved drastically and the customers do not have to worry about spare parts and after sales service.
The Fiat Linea new model may be the company’s weapon to counter the threat posed by a number of new models that have already been released in India by companies like GM, Ford and Hyundai. The price of the new Linea is not yet known.
