Ford India Opens 28 Dealerships

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In a bid to make its March launch of the compact car Ford Figo a huge success, automaker Ford India has created a new record by opening up 28 new authorized Ford dealer outlets in a day all across India. The initiative of Ford India to open such a large number of dealerships in a single day highlights the car manufacturer’s preparation for the ultimate launch of its small car Ford Figo which is scheduled to take place next month.

The automaker has established the dealer outlets in as many as 24 cities across the nation. It has been revealed that among the total 28 dealerships that Ford India has inaugurated in the country, 14 of them can boast of showrooms, sales as well as service facilities with seven of the outlets are service facilities which would offer full-fledged mechanical services. The rest of the new facilities are would be sales showroom, where the customers would find an array of Ford vehicles.

Meanwhile, Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford India, reiterated recently that as the automaker gears up to make a mark in the small car this year, expanding the dealership base, establishing strong business fundamentals as well as getting close to the customers has become a priority for the company.

The country is perceived as a potential market by automakers as approximately three-fourths of the cars that are sold in India belong to the small car category. At the moment, automaker Maruti Suzuki stands as the leader of the market in the category with its array of cars that include Swift, Alto, Ritz and A-Star.

I believe Ford wants full acceleration on selling of Ford Figo. Thats good. I believe this will do good to Ford.
