NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Those who cannot bear the scorching summer heat in Delhi but do not want to buy a costly appliance like air conditioner now have an alternative. It is a greener option as well. The Green air conditioner, as it is being called, is the brainchild of a retired journalist named M. B. Lal. He has invented a device that can give cooling that is on par with traditional air conditioners yet costs a fraction of it. Using ice for cooling, he has converted his dessert cooler into a powerful air conditioner. In tests, it has been proved that the device can reduce the room temperature by as much as 7 degrees compared to an air cooler.
The benefit of the Green Air Conditioner is that it does not cost more than a traditional air cooler. The inventor of the device prefers to call it Snowbreeze. As of now, the cost of the device is within 5000 to 7000 INR. It does not cause any pollution, unlike conventional ACs. He has made use of a copper wire, a water pump and a metal sheet to convert a cooler to a green air conditioner. Last year he got Rs. 100,000 from the Union ministry of science and technology to spearhead his experiment.
A lot of his neighbors have already opted for the device. The users are happy with the performance of the device. It is quite clear if his idea is implemented commercially, the middle class families will heave a sigh of relief. The information on Green AC can be found in the official website.
