NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Hyundai Motors India Limited is planning big for the year 2010 and it is about to introduce some of its most awaited models in the Indian car market. Recently it unveiled its plan for introducing a small car to rival Maruti Suzuki Alto and also unveiled the refreshed version of sedan Verna. The car review sites are speculating that the company is also going to launch its much touted SUV Santa Fe in India this year. In fact the company was expected to launch this model in India earlier but the launch got delayed for some reason. While Hyundai is doing really well in the compact car segment with models like i10, i20 and Santro selling and getting exported in huge numbers, its tryst with SUV segment in India has been rather lackluster.
Hyundai India may consider the Santa Fe as worthy contender to rivals like Ford Endeavor and Toyota Fortuner. In other countries the Santa fe has got good response and the emerging Indian market may wake up to the potential of the car. It may also stack up well against best selling Indian SUVs like Tata Sumo Grande and Mahindra Scorpio if the pricing is done rightly.
Hyundai India however has not said officially about the release date of the Santa Fe in India. The features and luxury of the car is likely to appeal to the SUV lovers in India. If the company decides to build the SUV at its Chennai plant it will be able to cut down on the cost by a large margin.
