TOKYO, JAPAN (GaeaTimes.com)- Troubled Japanese carmaker Toyota Motors has decided to temporarily halt the production of its popular Lexus GX 460 SUV after a strong warning from a US consumer organization. The model allegedly breaches certain safety norms. The news could not have come at a worse time for the company which is trying to recover from a series of recalls that has tarnished its image in the global market to an extent. The Toyota management has taken serious note of the issue and efforts are on to resolve the safety issue. The Toyota dealers have been instructed by the company to stop selling the particular model.
The report against the model Lexus GX 460 has been published in Consumer Reports magazine. The engineers of the magazine who tested the car found it to be skid prone and thus marked it unsafe for driving. Toyota is busy fixing the recalled vehicles that have brake and accelerator related hassles. The new problem is something they would like to fix as soon as possible. In the previous three months, around 50 models of the Lexus GX 460 have been sold in the USA. However, no instances of accidents owing to skidding have been reported so far.
Toyota has been trying to assure the customers about the safety level by saying that the issue would be tested and corrected if the model Lexus GX 460 is found to be risky. In Canada, the owners of the model will be given a temporary vehicle by Toyota. The Lexus brand of Toyota is loved by the SUV fans and luxury car addicts.
