San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) – The official standard time in US will be changed to Daylight Saving Time Today, March 14th at 2:00 a.m. local time. All the clocks in the US should be set forward 1 hour this Sunday. To know about the official time in your area, check out the time here.
The atomic clock is the most accurate time keeping device invented till date. The clocks available in the GPS systems are also most accurate device to calculate the time. They can show time with an accuracy of 50 nanoseconds.
The Atomic clock was initially displayed as a concept in 1879 by Lord Kelvin. Isidor Rabi made a workable process of the system on it in 1930. National Bureau of Standards made a workable device in 1949 which is currently recognized as opening atomic clock. It was an ammonia maser device and is a nice and correct clock.
There are now different types of atomic clocks available. The basic theory behind these clocks is necessarily the same but the elements used inside the clock are different. Time is calculated in different ways by detecting the energy level inside the atomic clock. There are basically three types of atomic clocks.
The first type is the Cesium clock which measures energy level by magnetic level. The second type is the Hydrogen atomic clock which measures time by hydrogen atoms. The third type is the simplest of these. The Rubidium atomic clocks measure time as the beam or gas absorb microwave frequency and the cavity within it contains an electric amplifier to make it oscillate.
