On the Call: Oracle’s Oracle President Safra Catz
A question that will be facing companies in this summer’s earnings season will be whether economic instability in Europe is hurting sales. Oracle Corp. executives told analysts on a conference call Thursday, after reporting fiscal fourth-quarter results, that they are monitoring the situation but so far haven’t been dinged.
QUESTION: How is demand in Europe, and is the situation there affecting deal signings?
ANSWER (Oracle President Safra Catz): “We actually were very, very strong in Europe. By the way, they had a pretty tough compare actually because they had a pretty good Q4 last year. So far we’re actually out to a very good start. But there’s no question the U.K. government and a number of our big customers have been impacted by different things in Europe, but we have so many products and so much diversity in our European base that things are going well for us so far.”
