New York (GaeaTimes.com) - Questionable Content or QC is a webcomic written and drawn by Jeph Jacques. The comic first appeared on August 1, 2003. It has completed the 1700th strip on July 2, 2010.
The comic tells us about the life of Marten Reed who is an indie rock fan; Faye Whitaker is his roommate and another character is Dora Bianchi who is Faye’s boss. Other supporting characters are the workers of local coffee shop, neighbors and anthropomorphized PC.
The comic strip juggles with humanized computers, little robots, indie rock and problems which most people face in daily lives. Witty plots with scatological humor, sitcom and romantic melodrama had made the strip popular. Earlier the focus was at a niche audience of indie music admirers. With elapsing time the comic has become story-and character- oriented
Technically, the comic is drawn on an old Wacom Cintiq display using Adobe Photoshop. The lettering and speech bubbles are produced using Adobe illustrator. The website work is done by BBEdit.
The illustrator Jeph Jacquess is not a trained artist. He was born on 17 June 1980 in Rockville, in Maryland, USA. He holds a BA in music from Hampshire College. He is a guitarist. He says, he got better at drawing as the time went without any formal training of illustrations.
He makes his living on the comics, selling the merchandise, and ad space on the website. QC has its own server managed by Ashton. According to him, since September 2004, he and his wife have been making a living out of it.
He now resides at Easthampton, Massachusetts with his wife and business manager Cristi. They are working on a printed collection as well.
