ACTON/DELHI - India’s highly promising, recently launched Smart Digivision MyWay IPTV service is taking full advantage of comprehensive software, systems and services from SeaChange International, the proven leader in IPTV and on-demand television solutions.
Customers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), the nation’s largest telco and the world’s 7th largest, and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) are among the first to enjoy the unprecedented depth and richness of MyWay’s on-demand, broadcast and convergence offerings.
Deployments of the SeaChange TV Navigator middleware and electronic program guide, SeaChange video-on-demand systems and a bouquet of settop applications began in late 2008 under an aggressive strategy to bring MyWay to three million subscribers across India over the next few years on the BSNL and MTNL broadband networks.
Ultimately, the MyWay line-up will encompass pause live TV; convergence services for integrated e-mail, live e-mail chat, news ticker and railway information; an on-demand library of DVDs, music and games; and 150 broadcast TV channels.
As principal integrator SeaChange is orchestrating the IPTV rollout over BSNL and MTNL, a leadership role its Professional Services division has taken around the world in numerous other launches of massive scope and complexity. “We are engaged in delivering IPTV services with the scale and quality that the telco industry has envisioned for years,” said Kapil Dev Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Smart Digivision.
“Smart Digivision is moving quickly to turn on world-class depth in television content, capabilities and new conveniences that finally let India’s consumers enjoy an integrated media lifestyle. Only SeaChange has the comprehensive skills, product breadth and implementation flexibility to back us up,” Kumar added.
“With increasing frequency the world’s large telcos with the most ambitious IPTV goals are turning to SeaChange to get them turned on and fully monetized,” said Bill Styslinger, president and CEO, SeaChange.
“Decisions in our favor come down to a singular focus that has produced the business intelligence and range of successful products to make any kind of advanced television rollout happen elegantly, whether customers want one piece or our whole portfolio. Our global organization is very proud and fully energized in support of Smart Digivision’s debut on BSNL and MTNL,” added Styslinger.
In addition to IPTV middleware, video-on-demand servers and software, subscriber applications, and integration, telcos around the world are building IPTV businesses with SeaChange content acquisition services and solutions for advertising, broadcasting and mobile video-on-demand.
SeaChange VOD and IPTV customers are among the world’s best known telco brands: KDDI, NTT-East and NTT-COM/ODTV (Japan), MTS/Allstream and TELUS (Canada); OTE (Greece); Telekom Austria; TMNet (Malaysia); Turk Telekom (Turkey); and Verizon (U.S.).
Television companies have been on-air with SeaChange solutions for the better part of a decade in India. The company is dedicated to supporting the special requirements for traditional television operations and applying its unique resources towards developing IPTV, on-demand and other emergent forms of television in the market.
