GURGAON, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In a latest move, noted mobile vehicle maker Segway Inc is going to sell its popular personal transport vehicles in India. The company has plans to launch X2 and I2 models initially in the Indian market. The models are driven by battery and come with advanced motion and balance control mechanisms. To sell its models in India, the company has formed a venture with the Bird’s group and it will take the charge of selling these two models. The Birds Group has around 30 centers in the country and the Segway vehicles will be sold from those places. While the vehicles will be sold from Gurgaon initially, later cities like Bangalore will sell the models.
The Segway X2 and i2 models are green in the sense they do not cause any harm to the environment. It is likely that the green groups will welcome the entry of these vehicles in India. The Segway X2 reaches a peak speed of 20 km/hour. The controller is wireless, which is convenient for the users. The i2 model is meant to be used indoor while the X2 model is recommended for using outside. The functionality of the models also gets affected by things like road type and load.
However, it remains to be seen how successful the models become in India. These devices are steeply priced and the price sensitive Indian buyers may not get allured by them. TheSegway X2 and i2 models are targeted at business users as the company claims. The malls, Airports and SEZ zones are likely to buy these devices.
