Recent studies have revealed that Canadians love to spend their time surfing Internet rather than watching television. While they use to stay online for 18 hours a week, they spend merely 16.9 hours for watching TV. The survey conducted by Ipsos Reid also found an interesting change in the age gap of the Internet users. People of 18-34 year olds prefer to stick to Internet for 20 hours a week compared to the people aged over 35, who engage themselves for 18 hours of online activities. This changes reflect that Canadian people are more inclined to online media and depends on it to a great extent.
On the other hand an altogether different result is reported by a survey conducted on the people of USA. The Nielsen Three Screen Report dismissed the early concerns that rapidly growing web popularity would kill traditional TV. The report for 2009’s fourth quarter saw 35 percent rise in the amount of time Americans spend watching TV while using Internet simultaneously, compared to the same quarter in 2008.
