A LATE FADE: Stock prices slumped in the last hour of trading as momentum from a four-week rally faded. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 48 points but is still up 8 percent in September.
STELLAR SEPTEMBER: With just three trading days left in the month, the Dow Jones industrial average is on track to have its strongest September since 1939.
