SAN FRANCISCO, (Gaea Times.com)- After a long array of social networking platforms already crowding the realm of Internet “Unvarnished” dropped in as a fresh gush of wind. Unvarnished which happens to be a new reputation site had its inception amidst much fanfare. Although the site is in its beta version, Unvarnished claims a lot for one and every individual. The idea is somewhat a drift from “Yelp” which caters to serve all restaurants and other such businesses which are organized locally. However, the first hand analysis of the site has ushered in all negative remarks about the site.

Unvarnished shall allow anyone to go ahead and make a profile about a particular individual and then keep posting reviews about it. That could be anything and everything ranging from personal to professional experience, behavioral traits, style statements and so on. Although Unvarnished appears to be a cool stuff, it’s actually a perfect tool for character assassination. In other words, this platform will be the very sophisticated way of defaming an individual’s reputation in the best possible manner. No matter Unvarnished follows the same trend and imbibes upon the same elements of inspiration as that of Linked In, My Space, Yelp, Orkut and Facebook, it loses its vitality on grounds of its modus operandi and concept.

Unvarnished is a glaring example to the ongoing threat which has taken a wide grasp upon all individual profiles and their reputation. Illegal movie downloads, piracy of music and now we have a tool to defame and socially kill a individual by taking hits at his reputation. Pointless to argue that reputation is one such thing which is seemingly hard to recover when it’s lost once.
