Cable, satellite TV and other video providers have asked the government to intervene in ongoing fee disputes with TV networks - big-money fights that are expected to escalate this year as more contracts expire.

NEW YORK - Cablevision and ABC were negotiating a deal Monday that tentatively ended a dispute over fees and restored millions of viewers' access to the Academy Awards telecast in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut shortly after the broadcast began.

The commentary on social media during the Academy Awards broadcast was often more entertaining than the show itself.

NEW YORK - Cablevision's 3.1 million subscribers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut had their access to the Academy Awards telecast restored Sunday night after the cable operator reached a deal with ABC's parent company in a dispute over fees.
