social  We observed Data Privacy Day couple of days back. This is Microsoft sponsored non holiday that was observed to create public awareness among Internet users to protect on line data. As per the recent study of the software giant, we are very negligent about our online behavior and that has a negative impact in terms of our job hunting.

As per the recent survey among net surfers, 60% users admit that they mismanaged their online information and that affects them professionally. Comparatively, very few people think so when they post their content on line.  15% of them bring this thing under consideration when posting a comment.  70% of HR People admit of rejecting job application based upon the candidates’ online behavior. 86% of US HR Workers admit that good online presence has major influence in their professional lives.

“online reputation is not something to be scared of; it’s something to be proactively managed, ” said Microsoft’s Peter Cullens.

In an ideal situation, your personal life should be different than your professional life. But, that’s not the case any longer. It doesn’t mean that you need to publish your resume or job profile at social networking sites. It means that your on line character is equally important like your off line character in terms of your professional success.
