The Adult services of Craigslist, which has been in the eye of the storm for quite some time now for being the online equivalent of a red light district has been shut down for good, finally. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal confirmed the fact to the AP Tuesday.

The Adult services listing in the US site was pulled in early September after the suicide of 24 year pimp Philip Markoff. It was alleged that the pimp was involved in the killing of the three women who met through the advertisement.

The service was previously titled Erotic Services and it was expected to generate $36 million in revenue this year. This would have accounted for a third of the yearly $122 million dollar revenue of Craigslist.General Richard Blumenthal said

This move is another important step in the ongoing fight to more effectively screen and stop pernicious prostitution ads
