GURGAON, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- On Monday Delhi Metro took another step in enhancing passenger amenities as the HUDA City Centre-Qutab Minar corridor link was officially inaugurated. Now onwards the Dehlites can reach Gurgaon without hitting the streets with this route which comprises a 14.47 km long stretch. The link will be stretched to connect to the Central Secretariat within a month. The link was opened at 8 a.m and the commuters were so eager to witness the event that they assembled at the stations right from the morning. The metro takes only 30 minutes to reach HUDA City Centre from Qutab Minar.
The metro linking the HUDA City Centre-Qutab Minar corridor will not stop at the Chhattapur station for some time as the station is under construction now. As of now, 5 rakes of Delhi Metro are running in the new route but with time more rakes will be pressed into service. The Delhi Metro Rail authorities are expecting that the stretch will be availed by the residents of Gurgaon pretty soon. The trains will run at an interval of 12 minutes now. The stretch will be operational from 6 am to 1 pm every day.
The commuters who traveled on the route are happy with the experience though they think the fare structure can be revised. However, the commuters will not get signals in their cell phones while they are in this stretch. The Delhi Metro Rail has not installed any CCTV in the HUDA City Centre-Qutab Minar corridor making security a concern for the commuters. The metro officials said that the mobile operators will have to set up more towers.
