Jason Chen’s House Raided By Police

SAN MATEO (GaeaTimes.com)- Jason Chen who last week appeared in an online video with Apple’s yet to be launched “iPhone 4G” for the gadget blog website of which he is an editor is going through some tough time as his house was searched by the San Mateo’s Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer team on Friday in connection with the lost “iPhone”. Reports claim that not only Jason Chen’s house but also his car was searched by the police. As per the reports, the law enforcement agency officials seized computers, servers, laptops, hard drives, digital cameras, mobile phones along with the copies of his cheques.
Jason Chen has claimed that he was not present at the house when the police arrived and that at his arrival he was asked to stand with his hands up on his head as they searched him in suspicion of carrying some weapon. Reports claim that the police was authorized by a local judge to carry out the raid in the house of Jason Chen. The gadget website has gone on to publish some excerpts of the warrant that has been used by the law officials to raid the house of Jason Chen. The search warrant mentions that the house of editor was used as a means of committing a felony or “tends to show that a felony has been committed”.
However, the owner of the website has decided to challenge the search warrant and has reportedly called it “invalid”. The Gawker Media which is the publisher of the gadget blog website has said that Jason Chen who uses his home as his work place is protected by California’s Shield Law that protects journalists from disclosing sources to law.
