pirated According to the recent declassified document, MPAA is fighting different type of war in middle east against those soldiers who are violating copyright agreement. The regulating authority are investigating the pirating habits of the infringing US Soldiers who are stationed over there. This is well known fact that MPAA has sent several notices to the infringers within USA for illegal file sharing.

Because there is a scarcity of legal movies and TV-shows in countries such as Iraq, soldiers sometimes use BitTorrent to get their choice, or buy pirated DVDs from local sellers. MPAA is not very happy with these infringing soldiers. The regulating authority asked the military high command a few years back that what they are doing to prevent those people from accessing those pirated DVDs. One of the questions was asked by the MPAA is whether they have prohibited U.S. troops from going to stores that sell pirated DVDs. The Central Command answered this question in a negative way because it would hurt the business of Iraqi salesmen.

“No….banning our troops from visiting these shops would have the unwelcome secondary effect of harming Iraqi entrepreneurs selling legitimate goods. They add that there is nothing they can do about DVDs that are being sold on Iraqi property because these stores fall under Iraqi law.”
