Summary Box: HP net income jumps, outlook raised
PROFITABLE PACE: Hewlett-Packard Co.’s net income jumped 28 percent in the February-April quarter, showing that stronger demand for computers is helping heal a battered technology industry.
UPBEAT FORECAST: HP also raised its 2010 forecast, sending shares higher. HP expects revenue of $123.7 billion to $124.9 billion, and adjusted profit of $4.45 to $4.50 per share.
CONTINUED GROWTH: Although HP had been making money even during the height of the recession, its net income had been getting smaller each quarter. But for three straight quarters now, its net income has been growing.
