Applied Materials settles lawsuits with rival
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Manufacturers Applied Materials and Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment settled all outstanding lawsuits between the two companies, agreeing to share technology that has led to ongoing litigation.
Some of the dispute focused on patents filed by Advanced Micro-Fabrication Inc. The companies agreed that they will jointly own “patent families.”
Advanced paid an undisclosed sum to Applied Materials and the companies said they would collaborate on future projects.
Both companies are computer chip manufacturing equipment makers.
Shares of Applied Materials Inc. fell 19 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $13.61.
