Asbestos menace in India

From our childhood I have been to several places with asbestos roofing. It is extremely common in sheds or garages and in many cases as roofing of the house. I had no idea that it is carcinogenic and can cause a rare but fatal form of lung cancer ( mesothelioma )!

What is amazing is the total lack of information on this topic in India and lack of any effort by the government to inform the public on this issue.
