Breaking News: Digg was Dead, Temporarily. Period.

Digg was down. And that is about it. Its 1 AM and that is why you are not feeling the impact. Imagine if it had stayed till morning, how many bloggers and website owners will get the strangest shock of their lives!

5 Possibilities

• No One Knows That Digg is Actually Down — the site is actually down and as far as I know that Digg addicts are actually jumping up and down.
• Time Factor — Its 1 AM now and perhaps Digg’s engineers don’t want to work now on whatever be the problem. It’s generally a good idea to lessen inconvenience your customers. Intentionally taking your site down for a mere software update at peak traffic time? Dumb. So for that, this time was the best. and Digg is sensible enough.
• Major Update — Is digg coming out with some major changes? I can not but speculate because in January, 2008 they went down similarly and had introduced some significant algorithmic changes in top topics of Digg.
• Digg is Growing Hyper- Exponentially — May be, Digg is growing hyper exponentially and even an efficient server like that of Digg’s couldn’t take the load that too at 1 AM! yes I am a digg lover. I choose to be biased over digg’s success. Thank you.
• Business Strategy — Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson know that the tech press will write about it, that the bloggers like me will surely go hyper on it. And may be they wanna see how much does it actually break the roof down. I donno. Anything is a possibility.

What You Could Have Done in This Crisis Situation

1. You can try to sleep and forget it as a short lived nightmare.
2. You can forget Digg and join Reddit and Dzone. It will be hard for us to forget our old buddy and Digg can never be replaced right? So we dump that issue.
3. You could have just waited for Digg to be alive. Who said we aren’t optimistic? As we waited, see our beloved Digg is back.
