Cognizant acquires UBS Indian set-up

CHENNAI - The Nasdaq-listed software services firm Cognizant Technology Thursday announced it would acquire Hyderabad-based UBS India Service Centre, the captive service provider to the UBS Group for an undisclosed sum.
As part of the multi-year agreement, Cognizant will provide a range of services relating to business process outsourcing (BPO), knowledge process outsourcing, information technology and remote infrastructure management to UBS divisions around the globe.
UBS India Service Centre currently employs about 2,000 people.
Subject to the satisfaction of certain closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close around the end of 2009, Cognizant said in a statement.
