apple logogoogle logoApple Computer said that Eric Schmidt, chief executive of Google, was joining its board.

Eric was elected to the board at a meeting yesterday, Apple said. He came to Google from Novell in 2001. Before that he was chief technology office at Sun Microsystems, in its glorious days.

Apple and Google are beginning to compete in markets like online video. Google also has a feature that lets users search for songs and links them to online music stores, including the Apple iTunes site. Link

I am sure Apple & Google worked out so Eric wouldn’t have a conflict of interest. Or does it signal that Apple may ultimately be acquired by Google?
