This info here greatly emphasizes the flaw of the said topic being discussed. Christian are against this type of exploit. It should not be used in vain. People should not make fun of this. This act would greatly make christian a counter to this act. I am greatly saddened by the fact that they are using Christianity name in vain.

I wish more Christians would check what they are being taught at there sunday churches versus what the bible really says. Then they would agree with the statement that what we have been taught is B.S. We have been lied to and it is our own fault for not searching the scriptures to check the garbage that we are being fed.We are trying to have a relationship with a God that we push away with what we practice as taught by the modern church!!!ThinkRedInk ! ! !

It's called the free market. Google decided to allow the sentence you're typing to be automatically completed with the most logical / commonly submitted answer. If you don't like the fact that most American's think Christianity is bullshit or that it's a cult then don't use google. (My personal beliefs: All religion is bullshit.) It took me years as a scientist, following the scientific method with everything in my life to finally realize it, but I did.

The angel Gabriel told me back in Aug. 1973 that "ALL OF THE CHURCH'S ARE GUILTY OF ABOMINATION'S". I thought about this for a long time, Years actually! How could all the church's be guilty of abomination's? Then one day a Muslim told me that Jesus had never actually died on the cross. Because he had only been on the cross for only about 6 hrs. before they had to take him down because the next day was the Sabbath. And no one was allowed to be crucified on the sabbath according to Jewish custom. As the bible says's they were surprised that he had died so soon. Because death by crucifixion is a long and painful proses. And they never Brock the leg's of Jesus either. Which is something they usually did because sometimes people lived through the crucifixion and burial and walked away after wards. Which is some thing Jesus obviously had done! Because if you stop and think about it you would realize that his wound's were not heeled. And if God had really raised him from the dead his wound's would have been healed also! This would explain why the angel Gabriel told me that all of the church's are guilty of abomination's! The early church embellished the gospel's! But the Muslim's and i believe that Jesus did ascended into heaven!

Christianity is over-bearing and by far the most pushy religion there is. See how many people deter the question to Islam? Islam is... what? It is alright if Islam (or any other religion that happens to be the target) is Bullshit. Is wrong. Etc, etc... a large portion of the world has nothing good to say about Christianity (especially anyone who cares for the human race) and should be allowed to express so.

Christianity is over-puffed as it is, see how so many people deter the main idea over to Islam? So it is good to hate Islam, to criticize Islam, (and whatever other religion there is), but not alright if it suggests Bullshit. There is no more of a over-bearing and pushy religion than Christianity, so obviously a lot of people don't have anything good to say about it. Especially if they have society at large in their best interests.

you people are all idiots. the reason those suggestions come up first is not because Google made it happen but, like everything else that Google suggests is THE MOST POPULARLY SEARCHED WORD/PHRASE. FFS only ignorant snobs would blame Google for something they don't like to see which also happens to be apparently the majority opinion.

However, When he, the Spirit of truth, has come he will be your guide into all truth" -Jesus Christ (John 16:7-13) "This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor to you. I have approved 'Islam' (Submission) to be your religion" (Quraan 5:3) "Truth has arrived, and Falsehood perished" (Quraan 17:81). Why should a religion get special treatment? Because a bunch of people get pissed off when Jesus is slandered? If Christianity is so perfect or strong a faith then that alone should stand up against naysayers. Perhaps devout Christians can focus on being good people rather than being insulted. Google should not censor it's results in any way, shape or form. To even suggest that is ridiculous. It's not a search engine's job to spin things a certain way.

Personally, I am a Christian and Google should not have to change this. The internet is a free medium in which people can say whatever on earth they please. Actually, shouldn't we Christians know what is being said about us? I think it very sad that some (not all, please know I am not stereotyping) choose to remain ignorant to something as important as our task on this earth.

...And it's not just Google. I just tried Yahoo and Bing with the same results. I also tried "Islam is..." and noticed that the page was hanging up. Maybe this is what happened to some of you who were complaining that this query was being filtered. It's not. I refreshed the page and got the same results. Along with "Scientology is..." Original Prairiefire has it exactly right.

Strangely enough 'Scientology is' reveals nothing atm. Christianity is 35,000 different splinter groups all claiming they worship the same god but if you worship it wrong you go to hell.

I'm a Catholic, and I do not agree with what I see. However, Google cannot change how others view a sect of religion any more than anyone else. I think it's terrible how people see other religions as wrong and think of them as cults. Those people should really take a look at what the Bible teaches, because in all reality, all religions in some way, shape or form believe in the same fundamentals. Each religion just has their own spin on it.

I think what some of you are failing to realize is that Google is not an encyclopedia it's a search engine. By definition, a search engine takes the most popular search results and displays them in order. Alternately - an encyclopedia attempts to create an unbiased definition (which is what I'm assuming you're requesting.) There is no reason Google - or ANYONE - should alter their choice of words to appease anyone unless they should so choose. That's kind of the point of the first amendment.

izak
January 20, 2010: 12:29 pm
modify the results? if these results are based off un-biased searches (no bots etc), then to censor them would just trying to push an agenda not equal to that of the populous. and if its not the agenda of the populous then it would be a biased decision to defend their own beliefs

I'm pretty sure they're basing it off of statistical results, not programming their software to interpret personal feelings. I'd go so far as to suggest that someone - probably more than one person - has probably set out to intentionally weight the results as so, by way of number of requests to Google search. It seems like it would a likely ploy, in the atheists/christians online fracas. Fortunately, it's not too significant to me - my beliefs are between me and God, there is no middle man about it.

Christianity is not a religion. It is FAITH in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God who died for our sins and raised from the dead. Accepting Him as your Savior and following Him makes one a Christian. It is not a man made religion. Google should bar the swear words and profanity and print only the facts.

Christianity has been put down and will be put down since Jesus instituted it some 2000 years ago and until he returns. His Word gives evidence that because of Him, about Him and for Him Christians will be persecuted. Ain't nothin new. I find that what I believe as a Christian will not harm anyone nor myself. If it is wrong, so what I lived my life well. If it is right and it is, then I will live forever well. What is to lose? God bless.

One element that came to mind as I was reading is that Christians would not normally type in “Christianity is . . . “ If I was and ardent supporter of anti religious or Christian devices and was looking for validation or support, then I would enter what you have discovered. Google Suggests is not intrinsically evil any more than money or alcohol are; it’s just what you do with it that gives it that value.

Ray
January 10, 2010: 5:52 pm
One element that came to mind as I was reading this, is that people who have an agenda may be looking for corroboration of their views. If I was a passionately anti-Christian or or pro-atheist blogger, I would seek out like minds. As a Christian, I would not Google "Christianity . . . " because I would have other sources to discover what I would be looking for.
January 10, 2010: 1:05 am
I love how "Christianity is not a religion" is an insult of some kind but "Buddhism is not a religion" (another highly-ranked suggestion) is actually the truth (Buddha himself said so). Also the fact that "Islam is..." suggestions have been censored. We know who is the real threat.
January 9, 2010: 8:55 pm
Google should ABSOLUTELY NOT modify in any way search inquiries. Religion should not be protected from honest inquiry. Of all faiths, Christianity is the most troublesome in that they push their beliefs on others...so the Google inquiries are honest and should not be modified just because it might "trouble" some Christians.

Don

Almost everything Google suggests--for ANYTHING you type in--is negative. Go ahead and test it. Type in "Atheism is" and you get dead, wrong, the new fundamentalism, so senseless, and illogical. Even 'good' things get trashed: My mom is: a fob; annoying; an alcoholic; dating a vampire; bipolar; depressed. Try it yourself: type in "Doctors are" and see what happens. That's just what the users of Google do--they complain and insult.Christianity is no different. The only phrase that I could get nothing but positives about was 'Apples are."
