How To Add Programs To X / Gnome Session Startup

I needed to run Synergy server for my triple monitor setup at startup of Gnome session. crontab isn’t going to help here. I found a simple solution in Sessions applet located at System->Preferences->More Preferences->Sessions. It allows you to add scripts to run during X session startup.
This is equivalent of adding programs to Startup group in Windows. What Gnome lacks today, as far as I know, is a way to automatically float most used items to higher levels so it can be accessed with fewer clicks. I use the Mac way of keeping the mouse button pressed as I navigate the menus. This requires fewer clicks than usual.
