NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Hyundai Motor India Limited is planning to grab a larger pie of the Indian car market with launch of new models and augmenting existing ones with new variants. It recently unveiled a new variant of its popular midsized car Verna with the name Verna Transform. It will be sold in both diesel and petrol variants and the price of the base model has been fixed at INR 6.56 lakh. Apart from launching the new Verna variant the company also said that it is planning to launch a small sized car that will be cheaper than its entry level model Santro. Actually HMIL wants the new car to give a stiff fight to Maruti Suzuki Alto which is the dominant small car in India. A lot of two wheeler owners are planning to buy small 4 wheeler and the introduction of Tata Nano, the cheapest car as of now, has excited them.

However, Hyundai India has made it clear that it does not want to produce a car that will rival the Nano. The company considers India as a major market and the introduction of the new Verna is aimed to give its sales in the mid sized segment a boost. HMIL CEO and MD H.W. Park is hopeful that the new Verna model will sell about 2000 a month in India.

The new Verna is something Hyundai India Motors Limited is counting on. The company thinks its new exterior and sharp headlamps will make it a favorite with young car buyers. The car also features revamped interior with LED illumination.

It looks great. Kind of small though. I dont like cars that are that small. They feel very unsafe to me.
