NEW YORK — The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange:

NYSE:

JPMorgan Chase & Co., up $1.50 at $47.16

The bank reported a $3.59 billion profit but also said it doubled the amount of money set aside for failed home and credit-card loans.

Abbott Labs, up $1.55 at $51.20

The North Chicago company beat its own expectations for the third quarter as sales of its drug Humira continued to climb.

Conseco Inc., up $1.47 at $6.46

The insurer announced measures to significantly strengthen its balance sheet, including an investment from a prominent hedge fund.

Harley-Davidson Inc., up $1.62 at $26.26

An analyst upgraded the motorcycle giant to “outperform” from “market perform” on stabilizing used bike prices.

Computer Sciences Corp., up $1.67 at $54.39

Goldman Sachs upgraded the information technology company on growing corporate demand for its consulting and outsourcing services.

Blackstone Group LP, up $1.21 at $17.11

The head of the private equity giant confirmed plans to cash in on up to eight of the firm’s companies “in the near future.”

NASDAQ:

Intel Corp., up 34 cents at $20.83

The world’s largest maker of computer microprocessors gave better-then-expected guidance for the current quarter.

Urban Outfitters Inc., up $1.42 at $32.37

A Wall Street analyst boosted her profit forecast for the clothing company and said more shoppers were heading its stores.
