MGM Mirage, Monsanto, Boeing are big movers

NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

MGM Mirage, up 85 cents at $6.69

The casino operator said an amendment to a credit agreement has erased doubts about its near-term ability to continue operating.

Monsanto Co., down $3.14 at $76.16

The world’s biggest seed maker said its third-quarter profit fell 14 percent and disclosed plans to cut 900 jobs.

Rite Aid Corp., down 4 cents at $1.22

The drugstore operator said it narrowed its fiscal first-quarter loss by closing stores and trimming costs.

Supervalu Inc., down $1.88 at $13.81

The grocery-store chain said its first-quarter earnings were hurt by the weak economy and warned earnings will miss expectations.

Wright Express Corp., down $2.89 at $22.55

An analyst downgraded the payment processor on concerns about the implications new banking regulations could have for the company.

Ashland Inc., up $1.53 at $27.05

The chemical maker announced it would sell its marine services division to lower debt and concentrate on its core businesses.

Boeing Co., down $2.55 at $41.32

The most recent delay of its 787 jetliner test flight prompted at least two analysts to cut their earnings estimates and ratings.

Oracle Corp., up $1.39 at $21.26

The better-than-expected earnings report from the business software maker signaled improvement for the technology sector.
