Murty exhorts Satyam techies to bootstrap firm

HYDERABAD - Fraud-hit Satyam Computer Services’ new chief executive A.S. Murty Friday exhorted techies of the IT bellwether to regain customer confidence and ensure their retention.
In an e-mail to about 50,000-odd employees a day after the reconstituted board appointed him to the top post, Murty said he was drawing up a ‘30-60-90-day plan’ to focus on the task ahead.
‘I have written so many mails to so many of you, on so many different issues. This mail, however, is unlike any other I have written so far! In this first mail as chief executive, I seek your whole-hearted support to steer Satyam through this crisis,’ Murty noted.
Listing the priorities, Murty said the focus would be on reinforcing each techie’s confidence for their retention, initiating cost optimisation measures and effective management of financial matters.
‘The task in front of us is enormous and I am confident that I can rely on each of you, as we set out to handle this mammoth responsibility. We have a few urgent and important things to do. The unique situation that we are in makes it appear that we should address them simultaneously,’ Murty pointed out.
He also informed the employees that task forces were formed and leaders identified to define the outcomes and monitor the progress under the guidance of special advisors Homi Kushrokhan and Partho Datta.
‘I will be in touch with you in the coming weeks through multiple means and keep you updated on the progress. Satyamites have what it takes to accomplish the task. We are moving in the right direction. We are in the process of an ethical transformation of our company; to reassert our value proposition and customer commitment,’ Murty asserted.
Calling upon the employees to work hard for restoring Satyam to its market leadership position, Murty said their collective effort would soon bear fruit and stand testimony to the company’s commitment to all stakeholders.
‘It is not for us to be history; it is for us to create history. Together!,’ Murty added.
