Nissan Micra India Coming In July!

CHENNAI (GaeaTimes.com)- Eminent Japanese carmaker Nissan in alliance with French carmaker Renault earlier declared that it will make its flagship compact car named Micra in India this year. The year 2010 is witnessing a number of compact car launches and a few months back, Ford led the assault with its aggressively priced Figo. Nissan has commenced the production of Micra. The car models are being made at the company’s Oragadam plant in Chennai as it has been reported. The car will be available in the show rooms from July.

The Nissan Micra will lock horns with popular compact cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo and Hyundai i10 in the Indian market. Starting from today, the interested buyers will get a chance to see the car from up close as the models will be shown in the showrooms of Nissan all over the country. The pre booking amount has been set at INR 50,000.

The company will launch comprehensive ad in web and other digital mediums. The car was unveiled for the first time at the Geneva Auto Show this year. Kiminobu Tokuyama, the CEO of Nissan Motor India said that they expect the car will prove to be a major hit with the Indian car buyers. Nissan is yet to make its presence felt in the Indian market and the Micra is a model the company is betting heavily on.

The CEO of Nissan India said in his speech that the Chennai plant has a capacity of making 200,000 Micra cars a year. Its street price will be close to INR 4,50,000.
