The Diabetes Blog - Marching towards a cure
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkSunday, May 22, 2005
Simple Thoughts is an aggregation of several member blogs like The Diabetes Blog, The Java Software Blog etc.
Each of the blogs are unique in focus and content, except aggregation blogs like The Health Blog or The Technology Blog.
Today I will describe the idea and hope behind The Diabetes Blog. Millions of people worldwide suffer from diabetes. It is a major killer and it drastically reduces the quality of life.
There are two kinds of blogs. Some blogs are like personal diary, talks about things which are of interest to that person without much organization of content. And then there are news blogs, which looks for news and reports them, often with some insight or at least in an interesting manner.
The The Diabetes Blog is focussed on news of research and advances in the field of diabetes and diabetes related conditions like nephropathy and neuropathy. I would not report on walks being organized or funds being collected, nor would I talk about my personal experiences.
I want this blog to be a place of hope, which every diabetic reads everyday to find out more about the frontiers of research in this field, when he or she can be cured or his son or daughter or spouse or Mother.
I have worked in and currently working with several Bioinformatics and Life Science companies as Chief Architect (of DoubleTwist) and as CEO of my company which gives me an insight into the real progress and the core issues in this field. I try to present them in easily understandable yet comprehensive manner cutting through the fluff materials.
My focus of is to find out and report on research and practices carried our worldwide towards a cure, without bias. It is a labor of love.
Let’s all march towards an inexpensive cure for diabetes for diabetics worldwide.
