Feds want 3-year term for Mo. mom in MySpace hoax
LOS ANGELES — Federal prosecutors say a Missouri mother should serve three years in prison for her role in a MySpace hoax on a 13-year-old neighbor who committed suicide. The government outlined its position in court documents filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. Court documents filed by Lori Drew’s attorneys say probation officials have recommended a year of probation and $5,000 fine.
Prosecutors say Drew violated MySpace service rules by helping create a fictitious teen boy on the social networking site and sending flirtatious messages in his name to a teen girl. The girl hanged herself a short time after the fake boy sent her a message dumping her.
Drew is scheduled to be sentenced May 18.

If the actions of this female were a direct cause of the death of a young girl then three years in prison is insufficient. |
