SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- With rivals like Samsung and LG releasing their latest 3D LED TVs in the market worldwide, can Sony be far behind? The Japanese electronics giant has been losing market share to these companies along with Apple which has stolen the thunder with its iPod lineup. However, Sony has prepared itself to bounce back in the market with its new lineup of Bravia HDTVs that support 3D. Apart from that the company is going to unleash 3D support for its popular PS3 gaming console lineup. The firmware update is being readied for release. The update release comes at a time when Sony also releases its LED LCD HXB03 line of TVs. Sony will also give two pair of special active shutter glasses. It has been reported that the glasses will run for approximately 100 hours on battery. The PS3 Update 3.30 has some other enhancements as well.

Along with offering support for 3D with the PS3 Update 3.30, Sony is also going to release popular PS3 gaming titles in 3D. The games that will be re-released in 3D include Pain, Wipeout HD, MotorStorm Pacific Rift etc. However, the firmware update does not yet support Blu Ray titles in 3D. Sony has said that support will come later this year. The news has made the PS3 fans quite excited. Ever since James Cameron’s 3D Magnum opus Avatar scorched the box office worldwide, the rush for 3D has become more evident than ever before.

A lot of 3D films are being made and 3D sets are being touted as the future of HDTVS. Now it remains to be seen whether Microsoft follows the same path after Sony’s release of the PS3 Update 3.30.
