CA acquires 4Base for undisclosed amount
ISLANDIA, N.Y. — Business management software company CA Technologies, formerly known as CA Inc., said Thursday it acquired a privately held virtualization and cloud computing consultancy for an undisclosed amount.
CA said it acquired 4Base Technology, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company that helps corporate and public-sector clients shift from buying and maintaining software themselves to a system where applications are delivered as services over the Internet — known broadly as “cloud computing.”
Its other area of expertise, virtualization, helps companies more fully use their powerful server computers by making those machines better at doing more than one task at a time.
CA said it will call the division CA Virtualization and Cloud Strategy group.
