Dell: PC demand stable compared with ‘08 quarter
ROUND ROCK, Texas — Dell Inc. expects its fiscal second-quarter revenue to be slightly higher than the first quarter, when sales plunged 23 percent to $12.3 billion.
Dell also says demand for its computers and other technology “appears to have stabilized” compared with the 2008 second quarter, when sales totaled $16.4 billion.
The company didn’t declare the end of the computer industry slump. Dell says demand still varies significantly by product and region.
Wall Street analysts are meeting at Dell headquarters Tuesday, and they’re looking for signs of upcoming acquisitions. Dell says it is investing to expand existing business and enter new areas.
Dell’s shares lost 20 cents to close at $13.02, then fell 30 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $12.72 after hours.
