Finally Monsoon arrives!

I never thought I would rejoice the arrival of monsoon (rainy season) as much as I did this year. The summer was exceptionally hot with temparatures rising upto 55 C (Centigrade) in parts of Orissa and 50C+ in Ranchi district in West Bengal. Several people died from the heat and humidity, the elderly being affected most.

Yesterday night monsoon finally arrived, as always proving weather-men wrong in their predictions. There was a heavy shower starting in late evening and continuing most of the night.

We have a dual water supply system, our mini garden and two WC’s (out of five) provided by water pumped from a shallow well. Even this almost dried up this summer.

What kills in these parts of India is not just the heat by extremely high humidity.
