The latest innovation to the hit the web from Google is the Google Fast Flip, which is a ‘news reading service‘. Fast Flip is quite an innovative application from Google as it promises to revolutionize the way people read news online. Google has tied up with renowned publications around the world like, New York Times, Newsweek, Washington Post, Good House keeping and Cosmopolitan, to name a few, for this new service. Google’s main aim with this application is to take the experience of reading news online, to a different level; through this [service] they claim, the experience of reading online news would be much similar to that of reading news papers and magazines in real life.
With its fast refresh feature, Google hopes, netizens would flock to this new offering like never before. The person at the helm of affairs at Google News, Krishna Bharat, has been quoted saying, “Fast Flip is a new reading experience that combines the best elements of print and online articles. Like a print magazine, Fast Flip lets you browse sequentially through bundles of recent news, headlines and popular topics, as well as feeds from individual top publishers.” True to its claim, Google, has tied up with renowned online publications like Techcruch, Slate, etc.
Google is slated to monetize this service by providing advertisements surrounding the news articles; they would be going for a revenue sharing model of business with their partner-publishers. Critics though are pointing out that for the service to be a real winner, Google would have to promptly think of offering news from more sources, as news from limited publications won’t be of much use for the tech savvy generation of today.
