LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- On Tuesday morning, the users of Microsoft owned Hotmail e-mail service faced problem in accessing their email accounts. The users who tried to log in their accounts were greeted with the annoying message “service unavailable”. Obviously they did not enjoy the scenario and a number of users started wondering whether it could be a virus attack or something was wrong with the passwords. Incidentally, Hotmail is now known as Windows Live mail and it is a part of Windows Live services. It is one of the oldest email services and has millions of users worldwide. The problem of the account going down in the wee hours of morning made some users angry as they were planning to celebrate Fat Tuesday.
Those users who could not log into their personal accounts using Windows Live Mail ID, blogged about it in their sites. However, some users who did not log in their accounts on Tuesday morning, skipped it and it was found later that they did not face the ‘Hotmail down‘ problem at all. Microsoft quickly went into damage control mode and started resolving the problem. The problem was owing to Windows identification service related issues, as Microsoft found out. The technical issues were spotted and fixed quickly by the Microsoft team. Soon the Windows Live Mail service was back.
The Hotmail Down issue was later clarified by a statement made by MSNBC. The statement said that the problem was found around 9.30 in the morning on Tuesday. It was fixed upon detection by Microsoft. Microsoft also expressed its apology for the fault.
